In a traditional lead-acid battery, during the charging phase, water dissociates into hydrogen and oxygen. The two gases escape from the caps, while the electrolyte level inside the battery decreases. W-Parts, on the other hand, uses the principle of recombination. Thanks to a special microporous separator (absorbent glass material), impregnated with a controlled amount of electrolyte, the oxygen released from the positive plate following the dissociation of water during the charging phase can migrate to the negative plate, where it is fixed and then recombined with hydrogen, restoring the dissociated water. This establishes a closed electrochemical cycle, in principle, with no gas emissions and no water consumption. It is a simple system, but to function optimally, it requires great construction precision and careful selection of the components used. Both the compression of the plate-separator assembly and the purity of the components are of fundamental importance.
